Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-10-20

This policy explains what information is collected when you use SheetConvert (sheetconvert.com), which is run by Naveen Raja, an independent developer based in India (“we”).

In short

  • Your files are never uploaded. Every converter runs in your browser, on your own device. We never see or store your files.
  • History is off unless you turn it on. If you do, copies stay in this browser on this device and are deleted after 30 days. More about History
  • Sending to another device is end-to-end encrypted. Only your two devices can read the files. They go directly between the devices. Only if that fails, and you choose it, do they pass through our relay server, still encrypted. More about sending
  • No accounts and no cookies of our own. We count visits anonymously, without tracking you across other sites.

Your files are never uploaded

Every converter on this site runs in your web browser. When you choose or drop a file, your browser reads it and converts it on your device, and the result is saved to your device. The contents of your files (contacts, calendar events, bank transactions, spreadsheets) are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we never see or store them. Text you paste into a tool is handled the same way. Unless you keep a history (see below), closing or reloading the page clears everything. The only time a file leaves your device is when you send it to another of your devices yourself, end-to-end encrypted (see Sending files to another device).

History on your device

History is off until you turn it on. After your first download you are asked once whether to keep a copy, and each tool page has a “Keep a copy in History on this device” switch. While it is on, the files you add to a tool and the files you download are saved in your browser’s storage on this device, so you can download them again from the History page. Text files are compressed to save space.

  • These copies stay on your device. They are never uploaded, and we can’t see them.
  • Copies older than 30 days are deleted the next time you open any page of this site. If there are more than 100 conversions or more than 250 MB, the oldest are deleted first. You can delete one conversion or everything at any time on the History page, and turn History off there or on any tool page.
  • Anyone who uses the same browser on the same device can open the History page. On a shared computer, switch it off or delete what you don’t want kept. Clearing your browser’s data for this site also removes it.
  • When you add files on the home page and choose a converter, the files are passed to that converter’s page through the same browser storage (even with History off) and deleted as soon as they arrive. If that page never opens, they are deleted the next time you open this site, an hour or more later.

Sending files to another device

From the History page you can send a conversion to another of your devices with a QR code or a link. Both devices need to be online; they can be on the same Wi-Fi or on different networks. The files are end-to-end encrypted, so only the two devices can read them.

  • Direct by default. The files travel over the internet straight from one device to the other (using WebRTC, built into your browser). They don’t pass through our servers.
  • Our relay, only if you choose it. Some office, school, hotel and mobile networks block direct connections between devices. If the direct connection fails, the sender is offered our relay server and decides whether to use it. With the relay, the encrypted data passes through it on the way to the other device. The relay can’t read it, keeps no copy of your files and is used for that one transfer only.
  • The introduction. To find each other, the two devices swap a few short messages through our introduction service. These messages are encrypted with a key that is only in the QR code or link (after the “#”, a part browsers never send to any server), so the service can’t read them. It doesn’t keep the messages once the devices are connected, and deletes the meeting point after 10 minutes.
  • IP addresses. To connect, each device asks an address service (STUN) for its own public internet address, and the two devices learn each other’s IP address, as any direct connection requires. Our introduction service and relay see the devices’ IP addresses, as for any web request. We don’t keep them.
  • Who runs these services. The introduction service, the address service and the relay run for us on Cloudflare, the company that also hosts this site (see Hosting and security).
  • Your checks. Both screens show the same short code before anything is sent, and the sender has to confirm. A link works once, for 10 minutes, while the sending page stays open. Received files stay in that browser tab unless you download them or keep them in History.

What is collected when you visit

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes technical data it needs to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. It handles this data under its own privacy policy.

Anonymous statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits, see which tools are used and measure how quickly pages load. It sets no cookies, doesn’t follow you across other sites and never sees what you convert. It reports only totals, such as page views, the sites visitors came from, country, type of device and browser, and page loading times.

E-mail

If you write to us, we use your e-mail address and message only to reply, and delete them when they are no longer needed.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies of its own. If you choose light or dark mode with the theme switch, that one choice is saved in your browser’s storage so the next page looks the same. It never leaves your device, and switching back to match your device’s own setting removes it. If you turn History off, that choice is remembered the same way. The History copies described above are also kept in your browser’s storage, on your device only.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, or to object to it being processed. Because we don’t store your files or keep accounts, we usually hold no personal data about you. For anything else, contact us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new “last updated” date.
